NANBF leaving WNBF???

Postby chuckles_345 on Thu Nov 27, 2008 12:42 am

Is this for real? If so what is the future of NANBF? Will they affiliate with another pro sanction such as the IFPA or will they form their own pro sanction?

Sorry if this hasn't been straightened out yet or if it is just a rumor. I'm just curious what is happening.

Yes, the cat is officially out of the bag! Let's put it in simple terms, this could be the biggest thing the NANBF has ever done and very well could be what puts us at the pinnacle of natural bodybuilding. You are going to see so many positive changes within the federation in the next year it's going to be amazing. I've been promoting shows for 15 years and this is probably the most excited I've ever been seeing what the potential growth could or should be in the next 5-10 years. Stay tuned for more details and you will soon see why we are so excited!!![/quote]

Awesome! Can't wait to see what happens. I've done 4 NANBF contests over the past 4 years and having nothing but good things to say about the sanction. I'm looking forward to the changes. Keep us updated!

A New Era!!

Postby jarnold on Thu Nov 27, 2008 6:41 pm

I am one of the few promoters that were around when we started with the WNBF/INBF. I can tell you there were reservations about going with them at the time. However it was a good partnership but with restrictions to us. We did this to improve our federation all the while in the best interest of our competitors. At the time we did not have a Pro circuit or magazine coverage and this was stifling our growth. So this merger was an immediate positive for both party's. The WNBF immediately added a Midwest presence and thousands of competitors with new revenue generated for their magazine and their advertisers. It also added to their stable many additional pro competitors and pro contests which helped add to there midwest marketing of their competitors. So this was a win, win for both of us. This was also important to help grow drug free Bodybuilding and Figure to higher levels than ever before. We cannot but say thanks to the WNBF for giving us these avenues to help us grow.

With the NANBF's swift growth however we quickly hit a point where we asked for help to grow and we hit an impasse with the WNBF that could not be resolved. So with a unanimous vote decided we need to move on in the best interest of "You" our NANBF family of competitors to gain more contests and to help the NANBF survive for many years to come.

With this "New Era" we are looking at our great new Pro Circuit with the IFPA and a yet to be named Amateur partnering organization, a new magazine as well as an e-zine coming soon. To add to this our Natural Southern States contest is adding a Pro-Figure show the "Liberty Belle" and Keith Hunter will have a Pro Bodybuilding event in St. Louis in 2009.

I can tell you that still to this day Becky and I feel so lucky to be affiliated with such high class individuals that are all about what is best for our competitors. There have been so many times in our 14 years with the NANBF, that you have no idea, we have made decisions that where cause for more work for us. Since we are passionate about making our contest's better for our family of competitors we would take it on the chin gladly go with these hardships. There maybe a few bumps in the road going forward but I guarantee we are all excited about taking on this new challenge to help us take Natural Bodybuilding and Figure to the next level.

We look forward to you all staying with us or coming aboard and helping us in our Journey!

I am confused. Can someone clear this up for me. Technically speaking I want to know if the Golds Classic planned for Sept 09 will still sponsor a WNBF Pro show??? I had planned to do this show and now I am feeling a bit out on a limb..... Thanks! Cori

Cori,
Fred & Jans Golds International will be an IFPA contest now. You are grandfathered in so there will be no re-qualifying for you. If you compete with the IFPA you will lose your WNBF Pro Card however. This is different with the IFPA in that they do not restrict you if you want to compete in other organizations Pro events if they recognize the IFPA's Pro status. There are others that do. This opens you up to more potential contest's. We are also adding a Pro Bodybuilding contest at Keith Hunters St. Louis Naturals I believe in June? So this adds one more for you now that you would not have had in the Midwest with the WNBF. The IPFA has a couple out east as well. Just with the NANBF and the IPFA there are more now than what we had with the WNBF.

This is really a better situation I think for our Pros now, especially us Midwest Pro's. Who knows in a few years if our Pro Figure goes well we may petition to get Pro Bodybuilder contest too. With the IFPA it is much more viable to do a Pro Contest for the Promoters so you may see more very soon?

John and Becky thanks for the information....I am still a bit confused, but I will try to get to your seminar and pick your brains about it.

I wish the competition schedules would get posted...that sure would help me to decide which way I will be going this year......I had the WNBF pinned down, but now I just dont know.

Anyhow Thanks!! I will keep in touch about the seminar...Thanks again for asking me to come!

Schedule?

Postby jarnold on Fri Dec 05, 2008 3:11 am

Cori,
There is Keith Hunters New Pro Bodybuilding St. Louis Natural. He did that contest Mid July last year and will most likely do it at the same time. Jan and Fred's Pro International ( Golds Classic) is Sept 12th 2009. THe IFPA also has 4 other contest in the East, 2 in May, 1each in Oct and Nov. You are eligible to compete in any of those.

Yes you can bend our ear as much as you want while you are here.

Dear competitors,

Please note the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation (NANBF) is no longer affiliated with the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF). The NANBF will now serve as an amateur affiliate of the International Fitness & Physique Association (IFPA) pro federation. Fred Rowlett, representative of the NANBF, and Matt Shepley, representative of the Organization of Competitive Bodybuilders (OCB), will now be serving as Co-Chairman of the IFPA.

The NANBF joins the United Natural Bodybuilding Association (UNBA), Ohio Natural Bodybuilding Federation (ONBF), and OCB as U.S. affiliates of the IFPA. The BNBF of Great Britain, GMABA of Ghana, ABBCI of Ivory Coast, NBON of Nigeria, and the UBBFA of Uganda are also amateur affiliates of the IFPA.

What this means for pros:

* Competitors who qualified to compete as WNBF pros in past NANBF competitions have the choice to compete in the WNBF or the IFPA. Note that competitors who have QUALIFIED to compete as pro with any federation will continue to be considered eligible for IFPA pro shows.
* There will be no restrictions included in the IFPA guidelines, such as limiting exposure for pros in outside media, not permitting pros to compete in other organizations, not allowing contest coverage or advertisements in other publications, not allowing pros to work behind the scenes at other federations' events, etc.
* More IFPA Pro shows to choose from.

2009 IFPA Pro Schedule:
April - Richmond, VA Women's Bodybuilding Pro Bowl
April 4 - Tarrytown, NY - Men's Pro
April 17-18 - Liberty, MO - IFPA Liberty Belle Pro Figure
May 16 - Pittsburgh, PA - Pro Figure

What this means for amateurs:

* Coverage of NANBF shows, along with coverage of OCB and IFPA events, will appear in Fitness & Physique Magazine
* Membership with either NANBF or OCB will be valid for both organizations shows. More shows to choose from with the same membership.

more ifpa questions

Postby dzsassy on Sat Dec 13, 2008 10:37 pm

I checked the website and still have questions unanswered, so here goes...I competed in my first pro show in KC this September, since being grandfathered into the ifpa, when do I have to pay membership dues? How often do I need to compete in order to maintain my eligibility, etc?

Thanks much!

Dawn,
That is a good question on dues. I will find out. I would imagine the interval time to compete will be much the same.

e-mail Fred Rowlett he should know those questions. Just got the contest schedule for his address. I will try to find out for you anyway.

Natural Bodybuilding Competition Forum

Postby kena on Thu Dec 25, 2008 1:21 pm

My name is Ken Arsenault and I am an OCB / IFPA judge and an OCB competitor as well.

This year I started a new website called Natural Bodybuilding Competition Forum. http://www.naturalbodybuildingcompetitionforum.com

The site Features and Profiles Natural bodybuilders who belong to the OCB / IFPA / NANBF.

We also feature Promoters and the supporters of these natural organizations.

We currently have Tonia Goodman who is an NANBF Figure Competitor Featured on the site.

The site is currently 99% OCB / IFPA at this time. I would like to change that by reaching out to anyone from the NANBF that would like to be profiled, write and article / story, or who supports the NANBF in any way.

Take a look at the site and come join us if you like what you see. The site makes no money and is just in existence to give natural competitors like yourselves, the exposure you deserve in a forum that gets allot of exposure.

thank you

Ken Arsenault

NANBF Leaving WNBF

Postby Shredded101 on Mon Jun 15, 2009 3:55 pm

So if I am competing in a IFPA Pro Qualifier and if I win my Pro card at a IFPA show, am I allowed to compete in a WNBF Pro show?

Not at this time. However we do (IFPA) have many more Pro Shows for you to compete in. We are looking to expand this as well in the future. Some pretty exciting things are coming.
