Newbie Figure Competitor

Postby TheDivine1 on Tue Sep 09, 2008 7:45 pm

Hi all! I am very new to the world of fitness, I mean NEW. I am stepping out on faith and investing in myself, finally :) . My goal is to compete in a figure competition in May 2009. Could you share the pros and cons of training and competing? I started my diet on Monday and am loving it. I thought not having salt/sugar and eating veggies and oatmeal would kill but I truly enjoy it. Any info that you can share would be greatly appreciated.

The best advice I could give youwould be to attend some shows prior to entering one yourself. Try to meet some competitors that have done it before.

I think you will find that they will likely take you under their wing and help you out.

Everyone I have met in this organization is here to help the sport of natural bodybuilding grow. They are all willing to help, and they have all been in your shoes.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for the information. I've been educating myself by checking out the various federations. A friend is doing a show in November. I will definitely attend.

Welcome and I think you will love it. Have you been to shows before? I found that really helps to see a few first. I saw my first one and knew someday I'd be on that stage. Good luck to you. Lori

Thank you for the warm welcome. I can't wait to go to my first show. I've been journaling my experience and it really helps a lot. I start weight training next week. I am a lil apprehensive since I have to be around folks that have been weight training forever but I know that feeling will fade once I see the results. I've only been eating clean and doing cardio and boot camp this week. I can not wait to see how my body will look in a couple of months.
