PS-I have competed in 10 shows and won the MN in 2001-I feel like I have never gotten as ripped as I would like to be so am wondering if the water might have something to do with it.

That depends.

Unless I speak with you and work with you one on one it is hard to make a good decision on your ratios. Plus I do charge for detailed info. Send me an e-mail and we can discuss this. The water however should stay the same. This keep your body from going into chaos.

Personally I have never had any luck cutting water The best I have ever looked just all cut up and vainy i drank a gallon of water the night before the show and then my last show I had a bad case of alzimers or something and decided to cut and I paid the price. Dont try and trick your body cuz you cant!
Hard at it!

I water deplete. From Sunday too Tuesday I usually get in as much water as possible, usually 3-4 gallons a day. Then from on Wednesday I drink 2 gallons of spring water, Thursday and Friday I drink 1 gallon of spring water. On Wednesday I take 1 Expel 3 times a day. On Thurs I take 2 Expel 3 times a day and Friday I take Expel 2 Expel three times a day and 1 Expel right before I go too bed. And on Tuesday I start taking potassium and magnesium. I sodium load at the beginning of the week and come Thursday and Friday I deplete my sodium. Saturday, competition day I sip on little water as possible and take in Morton's salt so I wont cramp up. LAst competition I did I went too bed Friday night weighing 196 lbs and woke up Saturday morning weighing 186lbs. It was like night and day. I lost everything. Mass, fullness, vascularity. So I decided this year I am not water depleting. I am just going too take in my regular water intake , 1 - 1 1/2 gallons a day. I do not hold water at all.

So in my opinion do not water deplete. Let your diet and cardio get you ripped and shredded, not cutting your water.

Shredded and Shatz have it right. Anytime you try to trick your body it will most likely trick you. Don't do drastic things. If you look the best you ever have 1 week dupe whatever you eat and drink to the contest. ONly when you get to less than 3% bodyfat, which most competitors do not get to, should you even consider fat loading and carb loading measures. Keep the water coming. If you look veiny and harder than you ever had and have striations with the water what make you think that if you change what you are doing it will get better?

For all my competitions I have done the water load, water depletion, magnesium and potassium load, sodium load and sodium depletion, carb depletion and carb load. On contest day sip as little water as possible and take Morton's salt so I wont cramp up. My last contest I did, Friday night I went too bed weighing 196 I woke up Saturday morning (contest day) I weighed 186. Needless too say I will not water deplete anymore. I am just going too drink my normal water intake. Hell, I might not even carb load. If I look good at the beginning of the week I am just going too stick too my diet and not change anything the last week.

Do I completely eliminate, well no not exactly. I load and then cut back by Friday noon I am done....aside from sucking on ice and sips here and there. I may consider keeping the water coming with all the information provided on this thread....

And John.....the legs are never as vascular as my upper body and I dont think it has anything to do with water. It is the simple fact that that is where my body likes to hold onto fat!!!! LOL!!!

My Buddy Morgan & Water.

Postby jarnold on Wed Jul 01, 2009 4:07 pm

I worked with Morgan Edwards all of 2008 with his diet. He competed in all the NANBF contest except two. He an Don High were vying for the Grand Prix Win. So it was very educational for me as well trying to keep his peak. Well he kept getting better and better. We never cut water and learned allot. This year he was on his own and came to me about 2 weeks out from our contest the NSSC for some tune up with posing. He looked great. He was super psyched to do well and thought he would do some tweeking. He carb depleted and cut his water and guess what he went flat and was out of the running in 4th or 5th. When I saw him in prejudging it was like looking at different person and I thought what the hell did he do? His son Braden comes up to me and told me he cut his water and he was mad too. I believe he could have possibly won if he would have looked as good as he did 2 weeks prior. Again another example of what happens when you cut water.

He met with me this week and is going to the Max Classic in Norfolk NE and looks full and vascular as can be. Just ripped. He told me there will be not be any cutting water depleting anything. He said he had learned his lesson.

He will probably kill me for telling this story. LOL!
